A 14-member ensemble orchestra brings the score of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to life in an immersive live experience, celebrating the game's 10th anniversary.
The Witcher in Concert comes to York Barbican on Sunday 25 October, bringing the soundtrack of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to a live stage. It's a special arrangement of the game's music, performed by a 14-member ensemble orchestra, and it marks the tenth anniversary of the game's release.
If you've spent any time in the game, you'll recognise the sound. The music is a huge part of the experience, and this is it played live rather than through headphones. The ensemble includes Percival Schuttenbach, the folk group that co-composed the original soundtrack and provided the vocals and traditional instruments that give the score its distinct, gritty character. They're well known for their work on several of the game's most iconic tracks, so they're a proper part of the original sound, not just a cover.
Overseeing the whole thing is Marcin Przybyłowicz, the game's co-composer, who'll be there in person to make sure the performance stays true to how the music was first written. The show is touring across more than 25 cities as part of a second European leg, following sold-out runs across North America and Europe, so it's a production that's been on the road for a while now.
