The Music of James Bond

The Great British Film Orchestra are playing The Music of James Bond at Central Hall on Saturday 8 August, a chamber-orchestra tribute to the music of the Bond franchise. They're one of the UK's premier live film-music ensembles, and this one is built around the scores that have run through the series for over six decades.

Across those sixty years, the sound has been defined by a few big voices. Dame Shirley Bassey took on Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever and Moonraker; Adele brought the Oscar-winning Skyfall; Sam Smith did Writing's On the Wall; and Billie Eilish handled No Time To Die. The concert pulls from that whole stretch, with sweeping strings and bold brass recreating the cinematic legacy. It's a chamber orchestra, so you'll hear the music played live rather than as a recording.

It's worth noting that this is an independent tribute production, not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any of the rights holders of the James Bond franchise. The performance features world-class musicians and vocalists, and the programme is a celebration of the soundtracks that have defined the golden age of cinema.

Central Hall is on University Road in Heslington, YO10 5DD. The music runs from 19:30 to 21:10, so it's a fairly tight window on a Saturday night.
