The Magic of Motown tribute act brings its 20th Anniversary Tour of Motown classics to the York Barbican.
The Magic of Motown comes to the York Barbican on Thursday 17 December, as part of its 20th Anniversary Tour. It's a tribute act, so the whole night is built around the Motown songbook rather than a single artist. They describe it as one of the biggest success stories in British theatre history and the biggest Motown party of the year.
The set draws from the labels' most famous names. You'll hear the Motown classics of Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, The Supremes, The Four Tops, Martha Reeves, The Jackson 5 and Smokey Robinson. It's a broad run through the Motown era, so the songs come from across the label's history rather than just one particular year or style. The tour itself marks twenty years of the show, and the York date is one stop on that run.
