Family-friendly, Victorian-themed performances by History Riot on Kirkgate during October Half-Term, exploring Yorkshire traditions around All Hallow's Eve.
History Riot are back at York Castle Museum this October half-term with Tales of Nut-Crack Night, a series of family-friendly shows running daily from Saturday 24 October to Saturday 31 October. The performances take place throughout the day, so you can slot one in whenever it suits you across the half-term break.
It's a familiar setup for the museum: History Riot return every October half-term, and this year they're taking over Kirkgate. You'll find two eccentric Victorian characters there, and the shows are built around them—plenty of silliness and autumnal adventures to keep the younger ones occupied. Between the laughs, they weave in some local history, too, looking at Yorkshire traditions around All Hallow's Eve. The Victorians called it Nut-Crack Night, which is where the title comes from.
