A one-man live storytelling performance of haunting ghost stories set during Christmastide, directed and performed by Matthew Wood, within the museum's recreated Victorian street.
Edwyrdian Tales are bringing Ghost Stories for Christmas to York Castle Museum on Sunday 13 December, a one-man live storytelling performance of haunting ghost stories set during Christmastide. It's directed and haunted by Matthew Wood, who takes the stage alone to tell them.
The set is built around the snow-covered cobbles of Kirkgate, the museum's recreated Victorian street, which is transformed for the season with twinkling garlands and decorated trees. The stories themselves draw on H.R. Wakefield and Algernon Blackwood, alongside an original tale written by the museum's storyteller. It's a one-man show, so it's just one voice and the room around you.
The performance runs as part of 'Christmas at York Castle Museum', the museum's wider festive programme, so it's one of several things on across the season rather than a standalone night. Tickets are £23 per person, and pre-booking is essential as they're limited. Under-18s have to be accompanied by an adult.
