Six evening organ recitals by acclaimed musicians in York Minster, from 16 July to 20 August.
York Minster is running a series of six evening organ recitals this summer, starting on Thursday 16 July and running through to 20 August. Each one is a single evening, with a different acclaimed organist taking the bench every Thursday night. If you're into classical music, or just fancy spending an evening in the Minster with the organ doing the heavy lifting, it's a good stretch of the calendar to keep in mind.
The line-up is set for the whole run. Jonathan Scott opens things on 16 July, followed by Caroline Robinson on 23 July and Ian Tracey on 30 July. August brings Benjamin Morris on the 6th, Rachel Mahon on the 13th, and Robert Sharpe closing it out on the 20th. Six different players over six weeks, so you can pick the one or two that suit you, or follow the whole series from start to finish.

Every recital starts at 19:00, and they all happen on a Thursday, which makes it easy to slot into a working week. Tickets are £15 each, but if you're planning on seeing more than a few, there's a season ticket for £75 that covers all six. There's also a reduced price for under-27s: £8 for a single recital and £40 for the full season.
