Steve Hackett performs the best of Genesis songs from his career, plus classic material from his solo albums.
Steve Hackett plays the York Barbican on Friday 23 October, his first time back in the city since his last tour. He's touring Best Of Genesis & Solo Gems, a set that pulls from the Genesis songs he recorded during his time with the band, alongside material from his own solo albums.
It's been twelve years since he brought his Genesis Revisited show to the UK, which ran through 2013 and ended with a performance at London's Royal Albert Hall and a live DVD. Since then, his guitar work has stayed woven through the classic Genesis albums of the 1970s, and his recent tours have taken those records back to concert halls — the 2025 tour focused on The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway. Best Of Genesis & Solo Gems is the 2026 follow-up, running through Florida, Europe, the UK, Germany and Italy.
He's not on his own for this one. The band includes Jonas Reingold on bass, guitar and backing vocals; Rob Townsend on saxophone, flutes, additional keyboards and backing vocals; Nad Sylvan on vocals; Lalle Larsson on keyboards; and Felix Lehrmann on drums. With a full band like that, the Genesis songs have plenty of room to breathe, and the solo material gets the same treatment. It's a good mix of the two — the songs he wrote for the band and the ones he's written on his own.
