The Steve Cassidy Band brings three generations of musical talent to the Joseph Rowntree Theatre, covering classic rock and pop songs from the 1960s to the 1990s.
The Steve Cassidy Band play the Joseph Rowntree Theatre on Sunday 27 September, with the night starting at 19:30. It's a familiar room for Steve Cassidy, a York-based musician and former headteacher who's played the theatre many times over the years. This time he's bringing a full band with him, and the evening is billed as more than just a concert: a celebration of the songs the audience knows and loves.
The setlist runs the length of the decades, starting with the swinging sounds of the sixties — The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Shadows — and working through to favourites by The Eagles and The Rolling Stones, with country, rock, ballads and blues filling the gaps. It's a broad reach, so you'll hear a fair bit of ground covered in one sitting.
On stage, Cassidy is fronting a five-piece: John Lewis on lead guitar, Mick Huil on bass, ukulele and vocals, Dave Cook on percussion, and George Hall on keyboard. There are also special guests appearing throughout the evening, so the line-up changes as the night goes on. The bill also brings together three generations of musical talent: Cassidy performs alongside his 15-year-old granddaughter Tess and the choir from St George's School, where he once served as headteacher.
