Musical performances throughout the day at York Castle Museum celebrating the sounds of the sixties, featuring folk favourites and chart classics.
Sounds of the Sixties takes over York Castle Museum on Saturday 8 August, with live music running throughout the day. It's all set around the museum's Sixties Street, so the performances happen right in the middle of the street itself rather than on a separate stage. The music goes on across the whole day, and the setlist pulls from two different sides of the decade: folk favourites and the chart classics that defined the era.

Because it's spread across the day, you don't have to commit to a single start and end time. You can drift in for a bit of folk in the morning and stay on for the chart hits later, or just pop in for an hour and leave whenever you fancy. It's a family day out, so it works as well with kids in tow as it does if you're just coming along for the music.
The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday 10:00 to 17:00, and Mondays 11:00 to 17:00 during this season, so you've got plenty of time to work around. The music is included in the general admission price, meaning there's no extra ticket to book for the performances themselves. If you're already planning a visit to the museum, the music is just part of the day.
