Sounds of the 60's Live - Hosted by Tony Blackburn OBE

Tony Blackburn OBE brings his Sounds of the 60's show to York Barbican on Tuesday 29 September, with the music provided by the Sounds of the 60's All Star Band and Singers. The whole thing is a live version of Blackburn's BBC Radio 2 programme, so the band and singers take the 60s classics he's been playing on air and performs them on stage.

Blackburn's been a fixture of British broadcasting for a long time. He's presented on BBC Radio 1 and Top of the Pops, and he's hosted Sounds of the 60's on Radio 2 since 2017. 2026 marks the 62nd anniversary of his first broadcast on the pirate station Radio Caroline South back in 1964, so this tour sits right in that anniversary year.

He's picked up 37 industry awards along the way, including two Gold Awards for Outstanding Contribution to Radio in 1989 and 2014, the Sony Award for Best Breakfast Show in 1993, and the Radio Academy's Music and Media Award in 1997. Outside the studio, he won the first series of ITV's I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! in 2002 and appeared on Let's Dance for Sport Relief in 2012.

The show starts at 7:30pm at York Barbican, and under-14s need to be accompanied by an adult.
