Stand-up comedy show Kid Giblet by Sam Campbell at the York Barbican.
Sam Campbell brings his new tour, Kid Giblet, to the York Barbican on Friday 9 October. It's a brand-new UK tour, and the York date is part of a wider run taking the show to theatres across the country.
If you've caught him on telly, you'll recognise the name. He's been on Taskmaster, Would I Lie To You?, Never Mind The Buzzcocks and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, and he's built a reputation for a particular kind of absurdist comedy that doesn't always follow a straight line. Kid Giblet is the latest tour from that same vein, and it's the new material he's taking on the road this time around.
Campbell describes his own approach with his usual deadpan. Of the tour he says: 'I definitely don't know what's going on. I'm not even sure I know what's happening anymore. BUT I cannot wait to come to your town and respect your traditions. I have been on tv over five times. May I divulge a secret? I have purchased a large metal ring. I will use it to keep all the keys to the city that are given to me by the mayors I impress with my showmanship.' It's a good summary of what to expect: a bit of the surreal, a bit of the off-beat, and a comedian who's quite happy to lean into the confusion.
