Palestine Double Film Screening

SPARK:York is hosting a double documentary screening on Saturday 26 September, with all ticket proceeds going to The Hanoon Foundation. The night pairs two films about the region, one from 2024 and one from 2019, and ends with a Q&A.

The main feature is No Other Land - West Bank (2024), which picked up an Oscar. It's paired with Andrew McConnell's Gaza (2019), so you'll see two different perspectives on the area from two different years in one sitting. The films run back-to-back, and the whole thing is a fundraiser, with every penny from ticket sales donated to The Hanoon Foundation.

After the screenings, there's a Q&A with Manal Massalha and Dr Khaled Dawas. Dawas is a consultant surgeon at UCLH and vice chair of The Hanoon Foundation, and he's been part of emergency medical missions to Gaza, so he'll be speaking from first-hand experience rather than just from the chair. It's a good chance to ask questions and hear more about the work the foundation does.
