The Holiday (2006) shown live in concert with a full concert orchestra on an HD cinema screen.
The Holiday in Concert comes to York Barbican on Tuesday 15 December, with the film shown on an HD cinema screen and a full concert orchestra playing the score live in the room. It's the 2006 romantic comedy The Holiday, and the music is Hans Zimmer's, performed in time with the movie as it plays.
The film itself is a Universal Pictures production directed by Nancy Meyers, starring Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Jack Black. It follows two women who swap homes for the Christmas break—one in California, the other in the English countryside—and both end up falling in love. If you've seen it before, you know the setup; if not, it's a straightforward holiday romance.

This is one stop on an 18-date UK tour running through November and December, so York is one of many cities getting the show. The Manchester Evening News described it as "a magical way to watch a Christmas movie", and it's aimed at families as much as it is at people who just love film and music. The whole thing starts at 19:30, and tickets are available through Ticketmaster, with a booking fee on top. If you're after a particular seat, there's a premium option there too.
