Meet Nick Harkaway, acclaimed author of The Taper Man, at Topping & Company Booksellers for a book talk.
Nick Harkaway will be at Topping & Company Booksellers on Monday 9 November, from 7pm to 8pm, to talk about his new book, The Taper Man.
If you're not familiar with his work, Harkaway has a fair few titles under his belt: Gnomon, The Gone-Away World, Angelmaker, Tigerman, Titanium Noir and Karla's Choice. He's also the son of John le Carré, a connection that gives him a particular way into his father's work. The Guardian has described his gift as a novelist as the ability to merge the pace, wit and clarity of popular literature with the ambition, complexity and irony of the literary novel — a combination le Carré himself also achieved.
The Taper Man is a return to le Carré's shadow world, and it brings back George Smiley, who is back on the trail of a traitor at the top of American intelligence. Ian Rankin called it 'Le Carré's legacy is in good hands — Smiley is back with a vengeance!' and Mick Herron described it as 'note-perfect'.
