Ska-pop band Madness headline an evening of live racing and music at York Racecourse.
Madness are headlining York Racecourse on Friday 23 July 2027, as part of the Music Showcase Friday. It's a double bill of racing and music, with the band taking over the evening after a six-race card on the course. The racing centres on The European Breeders Fund Lyric Stakes, a £70,000 Listed contest, so the music comes as the racing wraps up.
Madness have been a staple of the British music and festival scene since their first gig in 1979, building a following on a string of ska and pop hits. They've landed 15 UK top ten singles, including 'One Step Beyond', 'Baggy Trousers', 'My Girl' and 'It Must Be Love', and took a UK number one with 'House of Fun'. 'Our House' became their biggest hit in the United States. They've played major festivals like Glastonbury and Camp Bestival, received an Ivor Novello Award, and helped open the 2012 Olympics.
