Live At York Museum Gardens: Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark

Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark are headlining Museum Gardens on Thursday 9 July, part of the Live at York Museum Gardens series that runs across the summer. They're sharing the bill with Heaven 17, China Crisis and Andrew Cushin, so it's a full day of music rather than just one act. The whole thing is put on by Futuresound, and this particular date is already marked as sold out, so you'll need to keep an eye on official resales if you're still hunting for a ticket.

It's a standing event, and there are two ways in. General Admission gets you in through Museum Street, while Premium Admission comes via Exhibition Square and adds a few perks: a better view of the stage, a private bar, and premium toilets. Just a heads-up that there's no re-entry, so once you're in, you're in for the night.

If you're planning your day, the gates open at 17:00, the last entry is at 20:30, and the curfew is 22:30. It's an outdoor show, so bring a small hand umbrella if the weather looks dodgy. The site is entirely cashless, so leave the coins at home and stick to card. As for who can come, children aged 5 to 13 have to be with an adult (18+), and under-fives aren't admitted. They run Challenge 25 on alcohol, so bring ID if you're buying drinks.

There are a few things you can't bring in: glass bottles, outside food and drink (unless you've got a medical or religious exemption sorted in advance), professional cameras, recording gear, and bags larger than A3 (30x42x19 cm). You can take one bottle of water, up to 500ml, as long as it's empty or sealed. And since it's standing, chairs, mats and other portable furniture aren't allowed. The venue is about half a mile from York station, with parking nearby, several bus lines and the Park & Ride running.
