Novotel York Centre is running its Hump Day BBQ on the terrace throughout the summer, with the next one on Wednesday 12 August. It's a recurring thing, not a one-off, so if that date doesn't suit, there are others to pick from. The whole series is built around the hotel's Riverside Terrace, and the focus is exactly what the name says: barbecues served out in the open.
It's a social, open-air setup, so it's as much about the terrace as the food. The 'Hump Day' part of the name is the giveaway — these run on Wednesdays, right in the middle of the week, which makes them a decent shout for a mid-week dinner when you'd rather be outside than stuck in a dining room. The riverside location means you're eating by the water, and since it's an outdoor terrace, the whole thing depends on the summer weather, which is half the point of doing it in the first place.
