Book presentation and talk with Daniel Wilson about his book Great British Architecture, exploring the stories behind 86 great buildings across the country.
Daniel Wilson is coming to The Bookshop on Tuesday 3 November, from 7:00pm to 8:00pm, for a talk and book presentation around his new title, Great British Architecture.
Wilson has built his following on social media by exploring Britain's built heritage, posting the stories he uncovers about the nation's historical buildings under @greatbritisharchitecture. The book brings those stories together, covering 86 buildings from across the country. It's a broad sweep: the red sandstone of St Magnus' Cathedral in Orkney, which blends Norwegian, Norman and Gothic influences; the medieval round-tower churches of East Anglia and Scotland; Layer Marney Tower, a Tudor display of status with rare Italian terracotta ornament; and St Edmundsbury Cathedral, where a 21st-century Gothic tower carries medieval craft traditions into the modern age. Jack Cheshire, author of London: A Guide for Curious Wanderers, called it "a beautiful book and veritable treasure trove of some of the incredibly varied architecture this country has to offer."
