Fisherman's Friends are playing the York Barbican on Friday 2 April 2027. It's part of their 2027 tour, which follows a run of sold-out UK dates in 2026 and a tour in Australia.
If you're not familiar with them, they're a Cornish a cappella folk group who started out singing on the harbour in Port Isaac to raise money for local causes. They're widely credited as the first modern group to bring sea shanty singing back into the mainstream, and they did it in a rather unexpected way: in 2010, they signed a million-pound record deal with Universal. That leap from fishermen and coastguards to national folk music superstars has since inspired two feature films and a touring stage musical.
Live, they're known for their humour, their camaraderie, and their stirring harmonies. They've become one of Britain's best-loved live acts, with regular festival appearances including the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury. The set is a cappella, so it's just the voices doing all the work.

The 2027 tour coincides with the group launching the first Fisherman's Friends Festival in Cornwall, a three-day celebration of music, maritime heritage, and Cornish culture. The York date is on Friday 2 April at the York Barbican on Paragon Street.
