Face painting and glitter tattoos by Fairy Dream Face Painting, suitable for ages 3+, held outdoors in the Museum Gardens behind York Art Gallery.
Fairy Dream Face Painting will be running face painting and glitter tattoos outdoors behind York Art Gallery on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 August, from 10:00am to 4:30pm both days. It's part of Making Waves: A Closing Celebration, a two-day festival of music, workshops, creative activities, food and drink marking the closing weekend of the exhibition Making Waves: The Art of Japanese Woodblock Print at the gallery. The sessions run in the Museum Gardens, directly behind the building, so you'll be out in the open rather than inside.
Among the designs on offer is a wave inspired by Hokusai's The Great Wave, a nod to the exhibition the whole weekend is built around. The sessions are suitable for ages 3 and over, and children under 16 need to be accompanied by an adult and have permission from a parent, guardian or carer to be painted.

It's a drop-in thing, and you can pick your own combination: face painting is £7, a glitter tattoo is £5, and the Magic Combo — both together — is £10. Both days run 10:00am to 4:30pm, so there's plenty of time to swing by whenever suits you best.
