A hands-on workshop where participants temper, mould and decorate their own festive chocolate cottage with sweets and decorations.
York Cocoa Works is running its Christmas Chocolate Cottage Making workshop on Wednesday 2 December, and it's exactly what it sounds like: you spend a session building your own little chocolate cottage from scratch.
The workshop takes place in the venue's Chocolate Academy, a hands-on space where you'll temper, mould and decorate your cottage with festive chocolate, sweets and more. You're not just assembling a kit; you're working with the chocolate yourself, and you leave with a 500g creation that you can keep as a treat, put on the table as a centrepiece, or wrap up as a gift. They describe it as "the ultimate festive combo: York, Christmas and Chocolate."
It's worth knowing a bit about where you'll be. York Cocoa Works is a working chocolate manufactory in the heart of York, a city that bills itself as the 'Chocolate City'. It's a women-owned business following in the footsteps of York's pioneering chocolate makers, and it runs Chocolate Masterclasses and Chocolate Explorers days alongside its festive programme. They pride themselves on being an open and transparent factory, so you're working right in the thick of it rather than tucked away in a separate studio.
