Emeli Sandé performs her debut album 'Our Version of Events' and her greatest hits at York Barbican as part of her 2027 UK and European tour.
Emeli Sandé plays York Barbican on Thursday 4 February 2027, part of a 24-date UK and European tour. The set is built around her debut album, Our Version of Events, alongside her greatest hits.
That album came out on 13 February 2012, so the tour marks fifteen years since she first arrived on the music scene. It was a massive record: the biggest-selling album in the UK in both 2012 and 2013, eight times platinum, and over five million copies sold worldwide. It won British Album of the Year at the 2013 BRIT Awards, and 'Next to Me' picked up two Ivor Novello Awards. It also spent 66 consecutive weeks in the UK Official Albums Chart Top 10, beating Please Please Me for the longest unbroken Top 10 stay by a debut album.
Sandé's path to that was an unusual one. Born in rural Aberdeenshire to a Zambian father and a Cumbrian mother, she studied medicine at the University of Glasgow before leaving to pursue music. She co-wrote and sang on Chipmunk's 'Diamond Rings' in 2009, and has since written for Rihanna, Katy Perry and Alicia Keys. She performed at both the opening and closing ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympic Games, won four BRIT Awards and received an MBE.
