Creative Families

Creative Families is back at York Castle Museum on Saturday 15 August, a drop-in family workshop that runs from 10:30am to 3:30pm. It's part of the museum's wider family programme, so you can pop in whenever suits you during the day rather than committing to a fixed start time.

The session is led by artist Lendita, and the whole thing is inspired by the Victorian York Gala. You'll be working inside a paper-cut installation created by Yorkshire artist Pippa Dyrlaga, and the activity itself is making your own colourful hot-air balloon. It's a hands-on one, so it's as much about the making as it is about the atmosphere around it.

It's open to all ages, so it works whether you're bringing along small children or a whole multi-generational group. Because it's a drop-in, you don't need to be there right at the start—you can turn up whenever you're ready between 10:30am and 3:30pm and get stuck in.

As for the cost, it's included in general admission, so there's no extra charge on top of your museum entry. That means you can spend the morning with the workshop and then wander through the rest of the museum for the afternoon. It runs on Saturday 15 August, 10:30am to 3:30pm, at York Castle Museum.
