Cookery demonstration with food writer Jess Elliott Dennison, featuring vegetable-led recipes and tasters.
Jess Elliott Dennison is coming to The Bookshop on Thursday 29 October for a cookery demonstration and tasters. It's part of the Cooks & Books series, and the focus is on her latest book, Vegetable Recipes.
Dennison is a food writer, cook and the founder of Elliott's, her studio in Marchmont, Edinburgh. That's where she hosts chefs, runs cookery workshops and tests her recipes, all inspired by the produce, colours, textures and rituals that each season brings. Vegetable Recipes is the third in a series of cookbooks from the studio: Midweek Recipes was the first and became the studio's bestselling book ever, and Weekend Recipes followed in 2025. This one is packed with vegetable-led dishes, and the whole thing was written, tested and published from the Edinburgh studio, with photography taken at The Hugo Burge Foundation glasshouses in the Scottish Borders.
Her cooking has appeared in VOGUE, Stylist, The World of Interiors, Monocle, The Guardian, The Scotsman, TOAST and The Independent. The York session is a cookery demo with tasters, so you'll see some of the recipes in action and get to try them too.
