An evening of traditional Christian music drawn from the Celtic corners of the British isles, performed by candlelight at Ampleforth Abbey.
Celtic Carols by Candlelight comes to Ampleforth Abbey on Saturday 12 December, an evening of traditional Christian music drawn from the Celtic corners of the British Isles. It's a candlelight service, so the music is performed by candlelight throughout, and the set brings together hymns, chants, carols and seasonal folk songs from those Atlantic fringes.
Leading the performance is Olivia Graham, a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and storyteller who handles the singing and the storytelling as well as the instruments. The music is traditional, so the carols and folk songs are the focus rather than new material, and they're drawn from the Celtic traditions of the British Isles.
The venue is Ampleforth Abbey, set in acres of scenery and home to the largest Benedictine community of monks in the UK. It's in North Yorkshire, YO62 4EN, just outside York.
