A half-day sourdough masterclass with award-winning Luke's Bakery in the Cooks Kitchen of Carlton Towers, suitable for all levels.
Luke's Bakery is running an introduction to sourdough workshop at Carlton Towers Estate on Saturday 13 March 2027. It's a half-day masterclass, and the bakery behind it is award-winning, so you're learning from people who actually know their way around a loaf. The session runs from 10:00 to 16:00, and it's open to all levels, from absolute beginners to those who already bake at home and just want to get a better handle on things.
The day is set up around the basics: you'll learn how to knead, shape and bake sourdough, with explanations of how the whole process works and how to troubleshoot when things don't go quite to plan. By the end, you'll take home the loaf you've baked yourself, and a portion of Luke's own levain to keep going with at home. It's a hands-on sort of day, so you'll be doing the work rather than just watching someone else do it.
Location-wise, it's a bit of a journey within the estate. You'll meet at the Stables Tearoom before moving over to Cook's, the original servants' kitchen at Carlton Towers, which is where the baking actually happens. It's a proper kitchen setting, so it fits the kind of thing you're there to do.
