A classic Agatha Christie mystery thriller where Miss Marple unravels a murder puzzle in a quiet village home.
A Murder is Announced runs at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre from Wednesday 4 to Saturday 7 November, a classic Agatha Christie whodunnit that fits the venue's intimate feel. It's one of her Miss Marple mysteries, and if you've never read the book, the premise is a proper hook: a mysterious announcement appears in the local newspaper, stating the date and time of a murder to be committed in a quiet village home. At first, people take it as a joke or a mistake, but curiosity turns to alarm when the threat proves all too real.
From there it becomes a quintessential Christie puzzle. The village home is full of mixed motives, concealed identities and long-held secrets, and it's up to the sharp-witted Miss Marple to unravel them. It's the kind of story where you'll find yourself trying to piece together the clues alongside her, with the plot full of intrigue and dramatic twists. If you're into the classic mystery format—the closed circle of suspects, the slow reveal of hidden histories and the eventual showdown where everything clicks into place—this is exactly that.
