Seasonal family experience at the Glazer Children's Museum in which families build gingerbread-inspired houses from recycled materials for the MakeSpace exhibit.
Gingerbread Village returns to the Glazer Children's Museum from November 1 through December 31, 2026. It's one of the museum's signature seasonal experiences, and the whole thing is built around a simple idea: a village that grows alongside the museum, shaped by the imagination of everyone who visits. Families design and build gingerbread-inspired houses and structures from recycled and everyday materials, then add them to the display inside the museum's MakeSpace exhibit. The more people who join in, the larger the village gets over the course of the two months.
It's part of the museum's broader approach to its signature events, which they frame as year-round celebrations that bring fresh, playful experiences to every visit. The museum describes them as a way for families to create, explore, and make memories together. Gingerbread Village is just one chapter in that cycle: Pirate Invasion comes in January, followed by Spring Into Art, Summer of Play, Toddler Takeover, Spooky Science in October, and Downtown Countdown on New Year's Eve. There's also a free Birthday Bash every September and the 18+ after-hours Grownup Night for the adults.

November and December bring their own layer of seasonal programming, with storytimes and festive guest appearances throughout the holidays. The village itself sits inside the MakeSpace exhibit, so you can see what other families have added and add your own piece to the mix. It's included with museum admission, and the museum is at 110 West Gasparilla Plaza in Tampa.
