A quarterly community activity where wrapped novels are unwrapped for readers to discover a new favorite book, held in Snow Park.
Blind Date with a Book returns to Snow Park on Monday, November 9, from 4:30 to 7:30 PM. It's a quarterly program run by the Tampa Downtown Partnership that pops up in the park to serve the West Riverfront neighborhood of downtown Tampa. The hook is simple: every novel is wrapped to hide its cover, so you pick one based on a few clues rather than the jacket, unwrap it, and hopefully find a new favorite. They call it "love at first page."
It's a low-stakes way to step outside your usual reading habits. Instead of browsing by author or genre, you're choosing a mystery, and the reveal happens only after you've committed. The whole experience is offered bilingually in English and Spanish, so it works whether you're looking for something in one language or the other. There's no pre-registration required—you just show up and pick a book.
Behind the scenes, it's a community effort. The Tampa Downtown Partnership organizes it, and the books come from the Seminole Heights branch of the Hillsborough Public Library, which serves as the sponsor and donor. Oxford Exchange and TeBella Tea Company are also partners in the program. Because it's a quarterly thing, it only happens four times a year, so if you miss this one, you'll be waiting a few months for the next pop-up.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Tampa and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.
