Sean Canan's Voodoo Players, the St. Louis cover band, plays a tribute to The Beatles at Atomic by Jamo.
Sean Canan's Voodoo Players are bringing their Beatles tribute to Atomic by Jamo on Wednesday, November 25, as part of their Voodoo series. The night is called Voodoo Beatles, and it's exactly what it sounds like: the band spending the evening working through the Beatles' catalog.
If you're not familiar with the Voodoo Players, it helps to know how they started. The group began as a weekly jam at Broadway Oyster Bar in St. Louis back in January 2014, with Canan at the helm of a revolving cast of local musicians. Since then, they've played more than 800 shows, and the Voodoo nights are where they take on the work of different artists. The Beatles aren't the only ones they've run through—the list includes Prince, Fleetwood Mac, Phish, the Blues Brothers, and Neil Young. The Voodoo Beatles night is their dedicated tribute to the Beatles.
Because the Voodoo Players grew out of a jam session, the whole thing still carries that spirit. The lineup changes, the setlist shifts, and the focus is on the songs rather than a fixed band identity. The Beatles night is just one of the many artists they've brought to life over the years, and it's the one they're focusing on for this particular date.
