Emmy, Tony and Grammy nominee Liz Callaway sings Stephen Schwartz's songs from Wicked, Godspell, Pippin and The Baker's Wife.
Liz Callaway brings her show The Wizard and I to Blue Strawberry on Friday, October 23 and Saturday, October 24, both nights starting at 7:30 PM. It's a concert dedicated to the songs of Stephen Schwartz, and the two nights give you a couple of chances to catch it.
Callaway has spent years interpreting Schwartz's work, and this show turns her full attention to him. She pairs his songs with stories about their lifelong professional relationship and friendship, so the music sits alongside the history behind it. The set draws from the Academy Award and Grammy winning tunes of his career, including Wicked, Godspell, Pippin, and The Baker's Wife, and it also includes a brand-new song written specifically for her.
Callaway's own career has taken her across a wide stretch of theater and screen. She made her Broadway debut in Stephen Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along and has starred in Baby, Miss Saigon, The Look of Love, and The Three Musketeers. She played Grizabella in Cats for five years, and she sang the Oscar-nominated "Journey to the Past" in the animated feature Anastasia. These days, she voices The Speaker of God on season two of Prime Video's Hazbin Hotel. The Emmy Award winner is also a Tony and Grammy nominee.
