Tribute concert by The RetroNerds to INXS, ONE and U2 at The Sovereign on Washington Avenue.
The RetroNerds are playing The Sovereign on Saturday, December 26, with a double-bill tribute that puts two distinct eras of rock on one stage. They're calling the night KICK X, a nod to INXS's Kick, and the set is split between the Australian funk-rock of INXS and the stadium sound of U2.
If you've followed the band before, you know they tend to lean into the big, recognizable catalogs rather than deep cuts, and this one hits two of the most recognizable sounds of the eighties. INXS brings the danceable, rhythmic side of the night, while U2 covers the melodic, atmospheric side. Having them both in one show means you'll hear the tight, syncopated grooves of the Australian outfit alongside the wide-open guitar work that defined U2's early years.
