Tribute show in which Crystal Lynn and The Black & White Band play Erykah Badu's best-known songs.
Crystal Lynn brings The Erykah Badu Experience to Blue Strawberry on Sunday, October 25, for a tribute to Erykah Badu. It's a matinee show, running from 3 PM to 4:30 PM, so it's more of a Sunday afternoon thing than a late-night outing.
Lynn isn't doing this solo. She's backed by The Black & White Band, with Timothy Chandler on keys, Kevin Williams on drums, Darryl Bassett on guitar, and Kenneth Black on bass. The set leans on Badu's best-known songs, and you'll hear 'On & On', 'Bag Lady', 'Next Lifetime', 'Didn't Cha Know' and 'Tyrone' among them.
Lynn talks about the music in personal terms, calling it "my medicine, the antidote, my therapy, the cure," and says the set is driven by the struggle, laughter, pain, peace, joy and resilience she finds in every note. That's the angle she's bringing to the tribute, rather than just running through the hits.
