Annual indie-print showcase with over 100 local writers, artists and printmakers displaying self-published comics, zines and prints, plus lectures and workshops.
SLICE, the St. Louis Independent Comics Expo, returns to The Sheldon Concert Hall and Art Galleries on Saturday, October 31, from 10 AM to 5 PM. It's the city's premier annual indie-print showcase, and this year it lands right on Halloween. If you want to get in early, there's an Opening Night Ceremony the evening before, October 30, from 6 PM to 10 PM.
The expo brings together more than 100 writers, artists, poets and printmakers from around the city and beyond. They'll be showing self-published books, comics, zines, prints, magazines and poetry, so it's a good spot to see a lot of independent print work in one room. The whole thing is free and open to the public, and since it's on Halloween, the organizers encourage coming in costume—keep it family-friendly and leave the weapons at home.
Beyond the tables, there's a full program of lectures and workshops led by the guests. You can screen-print tote bags, try your hand at typewriter poetry, make picture book zines, or sit in on a sales tax workshop run by the VLAA. There's also a Found Coffee pop-up and The Sheldon Bar serving drinks, with a K-Bop food truck on site to keep you fed. The 2026 poster was designed by guest and 2025 Local Best in Show winner Cleonique Hilsaca and Riso-printed by Melon Press.
