A walking ghost tour through the historic Soulard neighborhood led by residents in Victorian attire, with light snacks and refreshments.
The Spirits of Soulard Ghost Tour returns to Soulard Station on Saturday, October 17, from 5 PM to 6:20 PM. It's the neighborhood's second annual walk, put on by the Historical Committee of the Soulard Restoration Group, and it's aimed at adults 18 and over. The tour takes in seven historic sites across north Soulard, with interpreters stationed at each one to share the history of the spot and the tales of the spirits said to call it home.
Soulard itself is a hub for the kind of community gatherings the neighborhood is known for, with the Soulard Restoration Group and Soulard Mardi Gras Inc. organizing a wide range of celebrations and meetings throughout the year. This tour fits right into that tradition—it's a walk through the neighborhood's older streets led by residents dressed in Victorian attire, with light snacks and refreshments included. The focus is on the local history and the ghost stories that have grown around these particular buildings over the years.
If you're planning to go, keep in mind it's a walking tour, so you'll be on your feet for the full hour and twenty minutes. The route covers seven different sites, each with its own interpreter, so you'll be moving from one story to the next rather than staying in one place. It's an adult-oriented outing, geared toward those 18 and up.
