Biennial fundraiser with craft cocktails and mocktails inspired by museum artifacts, appetizers, entertainment and dinner.
Shaken & Storied: History on the Rocks returns to the Missouri History Museum on Thursday, October 15, 2026, starting at 7 PM. It's the Missouri Historical Society's biennial fundraiser, and the whole thing is built around a piece of St. Louis trivia: the city is the birthplace of the cocktail party, which dates back to 1917. The night plays on that legacy, turning the museum's archives into a menu.
The premise is simple: the city's leading cocktail bars are challenged to craft original cocktails and mocktails inspired by artifacts from the MHS Collections. You sip your way through the room and discover the story behind each drink as you go, so the drinks themselves act as a tour of the museum's holdings. Along with the drinks, there are appetizers and entertainment to keep the evening moving.
It's more than just a cocktail party, though. The night includes a gala dinner, a live auction, and a fund-a-need, all raising money for the Society's mission. If you've never spent much time inside the museum, it's worth remembering what's there: the Missouri History Museum in Forest Park houses continuing exhibits on the 1904 World's Fair, the city's past, and a Charles A. Lindbergh display. Between the drinks and the dinner, you're in the same building that keeps those stories on display.
