Jazz vocalist Robert Nelson and his ensemble play holiday favorites at the new music showroom and lounge Blue Strawberry.
Robert Nelson brings his holiday show to Blue Strawberry on Saturday, November 28, with a set of jazz, soul and holiday favorites. He's billing it as "jazzing up the joy of the season," and he's not doing it alone—he'll be backed by a full ensemble: Antonio Foster on piano, Eric Slaughter on guitar, John 'The Pharaoh of Funk' King on bass, and Freddy Spencer on drums, with special guests to be announced.
Nelson is a contemporary jazz vocalist, recording artist, producer and cultural strategist whose work bridges jazz, soul, blues and the traditions of Black American music. He's also a respected arts executive and former President & CEO of the National Blues Museum, so he's spent as much time in the business side of the arts as he has on stage. This show sits right at that intersection of performance and the Black American musical traditions he's spent his career working with.
Blue Strawberry is a new music showroom and lounge in the CWE where local and national acts take the stage at least three nights per week. Dinner is available five nights a week from a full-service menu with a wine and beverage program, and the room offers Premium Seating in the first five rows—though that's not available for every show—and a bar where every seat looks at the stage. It's an all-ages venue, and dinner and drinks are served before and during the show with a $15 per-guest minimum.

The show starts at 7:30 PM, with doors opening at 6 PM, so you've got plenty of time to get a drink or a meal before the music kicks in. Tickets are $45, $40, and $35, depending on where you sit. The venue is at 364 N. Boyle Avenue in the CWE.
