Annual free concert by Opera Theatre of St. Louis celebrating music and storytelling, curated by tenor Joshua Blue.
Opera Theatre of St. Louis brings back Our Songs on Thursday, June 3, 2027, at Third Baptist Church, 620 N Grand Blvd. It's an annual free concert that celebrates music, storytelling and community, with each edition shaped by a different guest curator. The curator for this one is British-American tenor Joshua Blue, and the program will draw on everything from classical music and folk songs to contemporary harmonies.
Our Songs is built around the idea of music as an expression of identity. Each year, the guest curator gets to honor the voices and influences that mean the most to them, so the setlist changes with whoever is at the helm. This edition arrives as part of OTSL's 50th Anniversary Season, supported by Noémi Neidorff.
Joshua Blue is a familiar face around here. He made his OTSL debut in 2015 as a Gerdine Young Artist and has appeared in numerous company productions, including Tamino in the 2022 staging of The Magic Flute. Since then, he's taken his work to some of the biggest stages in opera: his Metropolitan Opera debut came in 2021 as Peter in Porgy & Bess, and in 2024 he debuted at English National Opera as Rodolfo in La bohème and at Royal Opera House as the Duke in Rigoletto. Along the way, he's picked up two OTSL awards: the Mabel Dorn Reeder Foundation Prize in 2020 and the Thelma Steward Endowed Artist Alumni Award in 2024.
