Soulful live show with vocalist and actress Olivia Neal and The Black & White Band at the all-ages venue Blue Strawberry.
Olivia Neal plays Blue Strawberry on Thursday, December 3, at 7:30 PM, backed by The Black & White Band. It's a soul set, and if you've seen her before, you know she's as much a storyteller as she is a singer. She's a vocalist and an actress, and that theater background comes through in how she handles a stage.
Neal graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville with a B.S. in Theater Performance, and she's worked with national and international artists on stages across the country. You might recognize her from Passing Strange and The Color Purple Musical, or from her tribute to Stephanie Mills. Her stage credits also include Eleventh Hour Radio, A Raisin in the Sun, For Colored Girls, and Intimate Apparel, as well as her own solo production, Here's to Life: The Experience, Starring Olivia Neal, which she brought to the Missouri History Museum. That blend of powerhouse vocals and storytelling is what she's known for, and it's what she'll be bringing to the night.
