Seven-piece live band with three MCs and a DJ recreating the Beastie Boys' mix of hip-hop, punk and rock.
My Posse in Effect plays The Pageant on Wednesday, November 25, as a live tribute to the Beastie Boys. They're a seven-piece band that builds the set around three MCs, a DJ, and visuals from the group's video collection, all backed by live instruments. The setlist pulls from the Beastie Boys' mix of hip-hop, punk, and rock, with live versions of "Sabotage," "No Sleep Till Brooklyn," "Intergalactic," and "Fight For Your Right" among the songs they play. They describe themselves as a tribute act that aims to recapture the spirit of Mike D, Ad-Rock, and MCA.
Two other acts open the bill: We Practiced Santeria, a tribute to Sublime, and DJ Mahf. Between the two openers and the main set, the night runs through three different tributes, so it's a long one. The Pageant is an intimate room known for its acoustics and sightlines, and it operates as a cashless venue, so keep that in mind if you're planning on grabbing drinks or merch.
