An evening of Motown and soul music with Dakota Pagan, Anita Jackson, Tiffany Elle, Rene Smith and Joe Mancuso as a benefit for The Meacham Park Scholarship Program.
Motown & More comes to the Kirkwood Performing Arts Center on Friday, October 23, for an evening of Motown and soul. It's a benefit show, with proceeds going to the MNIA Scholarship Fund.
The lineup brings together five voices on one stage: Dakota Pagan, Anita Jackson, Tiffany Elle, Rene Smith, and Joe Mancuso. They'll be working through the Motown and soul songbook, so you can expect the kind of set that moves from the upbeat, danceable side of the era to the slower, more stripped-back soul ballads. With five singers to pull from, they can trade leads and layer harmonies across the different styles the night covers.
Beyond the music, there's a specific cause behind the evening. The show is staged as a benefit for the Meacham Park Scholarship Program, so the money raised goes toward supporting students through that fund. It's the kind of night where the music is the main draw, but knowing it's tied to a scholarship program gives it a bit more to hold onto.
