MC Lyte performs live at City Winery St. Louis, with dining and wine service available.
MC Lyte plays City Winery St. Louis on Saturday, October 17, as part of her Road to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame tour. It's a rare chance to see one of hip-hop's actual pioneers in a room where you can still see her face. The venue is at 3730 Foundry Way, Suite 158, inside City Foundry.
If you're not familiar with the name, Lyte is a hip-hop trailblazer who set the standard for lyrical excellence, authenticity, and longevity. She made history as the first female rapper to earn a gold single, the first female solo rapper nominated for a Grammy, and the first rap artist to perform at Carnegie Hall—achievements that helped pave the way for generations of artists. Beyond the mic, she's reinvented herself as an entrepreneur, author, speaker, DJ, and advocate. The Road to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame title points to where she stands in the history of the music.
City Winery does things a bit differently than your average club. The room adds dining at your table and wine-at-your-table service to the night, so you can eat and drink without having to leave your seat. It turns a concert into a full evening, and since the show is on a Saturday, it's easy to make a whole night of it.
