Kat Edmonson brings her holiday concert Have Your Merry Christmas With Me to Blue Strawberry on Friday, November 27, at 7:30 PM. It's the first stop of a nationwide tour that runs through December 30, and the show follows her holiday album of the same name, which came out on November 6.
Edmonson is a singer and composer whose voice and arrangements pull from jazz, cabaret, and vintage cosmopolitan pop. The New York Times called her work timeless, and she's landed several number-one albums on the Billboard Jazz Albums chart. She's a Songwriters Hall of Fame award winner, too, so she's as much about the writing as she is about the singing.
Her resume reads like a tour of the places a voice like hers belongs. She's appeared on Austin City Limits, NPR's Tiny Desk Concerts, A Prairie Home Companion, The Tonight Show, and The Late Show. She's played Carnegie Hall, the Montreux Jazz Festival, and the Blue Note in Japan, and has toured with Lyle Lovett, Michael Kiwanuka, Chris Isaak, Shawn Colvin, and Gary Clark Jr. Beyond the music, she played a 1930s jazz singer in Woody Allen's CafƩ Society and made her theatrical debut in the Drama Desk Award-nominated off-Broadway production The Hang.
