Photography workshop on iPhone features held in the PlantLab classroom before participants practice in the Japanese Garden.
iPhone Photography in the Japanese Garden is happening at the Missouri Botanical Garden on Tuesday, October 27, from 4 PM to 6 PM. It's a two-part session that starts in a classroom at the PlantLab, where you'll go over iPhone photography features before heading out into the Japanese Garden to put them to use.
If you've ever felt like you're only using a fraction of what your phone's camera can actually do, this is exactly the kind of thing that helps. The first half is the instructional part—sitting down in the PlantLab and walking through the settings and tools that make a difference—and the second half is the hands-on part, where you take those tips and apply them to the garden. It's a good way to learn the 'how' and the 'why' in a classroom setting and then immediately see how it works in practice.
The Japanese Garden is a great spot for this, too. It's one of the more distinct areas of the gardens, and having a guided session there means you'll be shooting with a bit more intention than you would on a random walk. If you're already into photography or just want to get better shots when you're out and about, it's a low-pressure way to pick up some new tricks.

For a bit of context on the venue, the Missouri Botanical Garden is in the Shaw neighborhood, right next to Tower Grove Park. It keeps a full calendar throughout the year, with the Japanese Festival, the holiday Garden Glow, the Whitaker Music Festival, and a steady stream of plant shows and art exhibits. If you're a St. Louis City or County resident, you can enter the gardens for free on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 7 AM to noon with proof of residency. This session runs Tuesday, October 27, from 4 PM to 6 PM at 4344 Shaw Blvd.
