A festive holiday concert featuring Jenifer Lewis, the St. Louis Symphony and the St. Louis Symphony IN UNISON Chorus, led by Kevin McBeth.
Jenifer Lewis is returning to Powell Hall on Thursday, December 10, and Friday, December 11, for IN UNISON Christmas. It's her first time back on that stage since 2012, and she's coming home to do it — she was born right here in St. Louis, and this is a holiday program built around her. She'll be joined by the St. Louis Symphony and the St. Louis Symphony IN UNISON Chorus, the city-based ensemble directed by Kevin McBeth.
As for what to expect, the program is described as inspiring, reflective and joyful holiday music, and Lewis brings her Broadway energy to the mix. If you've seen her work, you know she's not exactly a subtle performer; she's an award-winning actor and singer with a huge presence, and that's what she's bringing to the night. The SLSO provides the orchestral backdrop, and the IN UNISON Chorus adds the choral weight, with McBeth conducting the whole thing. It's a full-scale production rather than a small recital.
