A live orchestral adaptation of the 1991 film 'Hook', featuring the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra performing John Williams' score in sync with the movie on the big screen.
Hook in Concert comes to Powell Hall over three days in January 2027, with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra playing John Williams' score to the film Hook live in sync with the movie on the big screen. It's a live orchestral adaptation of the story, and the concert marks the 35th anniversary of Steven Spielberg's 1991 film.
Williams' score is the center of the whole thing. The movie was originally envisioned as a musical, and it still carries two songs he wrote for it: "We Don't Want to Grow Up" and the Oscar-nominated "When You're Alone." Beyond those, the score earned two Grammy nominations and the BMI Film Music Award. The film itself grossed more than $300 million worldwide and earned five Academy Award nominations, with Robin Williams as the adult Peter Banning and Dustin Hoffman as Captain Hook.
Samuel Hollister conducts the SLSO for this one. The orchestra has been around since 1880, making it the second oldest professional orchestra in the United States, and it's called Powell Hall home since 1968. Along the way, it's collected 60 Grammy nominations and nine wins. The production is presented by Black Ink Presents with RoadCo Entertainment and Sony Pictures Entertainment.
