Free autumn economics program for families with bank, origami and game activities at the Economy Museum.
Fall into Economics is coming to the Economy Museum on Monday, October 26, as part of the museum's autumn programming for families. It's a morning session that runs through the museum's exhibits with a few hands-on activities mixed in, so it's more of a guided experience than just walking through on your own.
The program is built around three specific activities: a bank station, an origami station, and a game station. Each one takes a different piece of how money and the economy work and turns it into something you can actually do with your kids. The bank part lets them play around with how banking works, the origami puts a creative spin on the concepts, and the game lets them work through the ideas in a more competitive, playful way. Between those, you'll be moving through the museum's permanent displays, which cover the basics of economics and how it touches almost everything in our daily lives.
It's designed for families, so the activities are scaled for kids to get involved alongside the adults. If you've got younger ones who might get restless just looking at exhibits, having something to make or a game to play keeps them engaged while you're talking through the bigger ideas. It's a good way to introduce them to the subject without it feeling like a classroom lesson.
