Live show by Dead Format, the bedroom pop project of Josh Braden, with The Scotty Russell Quartet and Zap! Harmonics at The Key STL.
Dead Format plays The Key on Friday, October 23, with The Scotty Russell Quartet and Zap! Harmonics on the bill. It's a full night of music in the Grand Center Arts District, and the headliner is a project that's been around the city for a while now.
Dead Format is the evolving recording project of Josh Braden, a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and self-described bedroom pop fanatic. While it started as his solo recording outlet, it's grown into a full band that's been playing the songs together since 2017. That lineup includes Kolin Keith, Brad Ferguson, Kaleb Yates, Zack Vaughan, and Ethan Saake, so what begins as Braden's songwriting gets worked out by six people on stage.
The bill puts them alongside The Scotty Russell Quartet and Zap! Harmonics, making it a three-act night rather than a single set. With the quartet and the harmonics both on the program, there's a good bit of ground to cover before Dead Format takes the stage.
