He's an American saxophonist, recording artist, songwriter, and record producer born in New Rochelle, New York, and his work sits at the heart of contemporary and smooth jazz, with the saxophone at its core and frequent use of synthesizers and keyboards. He's known for a gritty contemporary jazz sound that blends soul-jazz, R&B, funk, and popāa style that led his 1992 debut Trust and has since earned him four Grammy nominations and RIAA gold albums. His 2020 album Solid reached number 10 on the Billboard Current Pop Albums chart.
