Free family day celebrating autumn with pumpkin decorating, neighborhood activities and a Plan STL table for community input.
Bear Pit Pumpkin Patch Day is coming to Fairground Park on Saturday, October 17, starting at 10 AM. It's a free, family-friendly community day built around the arrival of autumn, and the pumpkin decorating is the main draw. You can grab a pumpkin and decorate it right there, and there are other activities running alongside it, so it's a good spot to bring the kids and spend a few hours.
Beyond the pumpkins, the day is meant to bring together neighbors from across several Plan Area 4 neighborhoods: Wells Goodfellow, Hamilton Heights, Kingsway West, Penrose, O'Fallon, Fairground, and College Hill. It's one of those events where you'll likely run into people from a few blocks over whom you've seen around but never actually talked to. There are also local resources on hand, so it's as much about connecting with the community as it is about the seasonal stuff.
One part of the day is a bit more focused: a Plan STL table will be set up, where residents can find out about the draft neighborhood plan and share their ideas for the future of the community. If you've been following the neighborhood planning process or just want to see what's being proposed for the area, this is a chance to get a look at the draft and weigh in.
